We are so honoured to welcome you to this Himalaya journey where the Sutlej and Spiti rivers carve their way through mountains that feel as old as time. This retreat was designed as a gentle passage—from the bustle of Chandigarh into orchards, villages, monasteries and finally the wild stillness of Doksa in Spiti Valley—so that step by step, the outer landscape can soften and reshape the one within. You don’t need to be an experienced trekker or seasoned meditator to join us; just a willingness to travel light in spirit, be held by the road, and let mountain air, stories, chants and starry nights do their quiet work. Over eight days together, we’ll share drives, walks, picnics, music and silence, held with care at every stage of the journey.
Doksa, Spiti Valley
Doksa, Spiti Valley
AUG 29 - SEP 06, 2026
Where River Meets the Sky is an eight-day journey through the Himalayas, travelling from Chandigarh up through Thanedar, Kalpa and into the high-altitude stillness of Mane and Doksa in Spiti Valley. Designed as part journey, part immersion, and part permission to slow all the way down, it invites you to experience how the Himalayas can rearrange your interior landscape as powerfully as the outer one. You’ll be held with care at every step, moving from lowland city rhythms into apple orchards, mountain villages, monasteries and vast, open valleys where the sky feels impossibly close.
The itinerary traces a thoughtful arc: storytelling and opening circle in Thanedar’s orchards, temple and monastery visits in Kalpa with sweeping views of Kinnaur Kailash, and then the long, beautiful drive into Mane and Doksa for sundowners, bonfires and tales of snow leopard expeditions. At Doksa, days unfold along the riverbed with yoga, picnics and live music, followed by excursions to Sopona Lake with hiking trails, glacier-fed waters and visits to local villages. Evenings bring sound baths under the stars and “Lotus Rising” stories of Padmasambhava, weaving local lore and spiritual myth into the night sky.
As the road turns homeward from Mane through Tabo and Rampur back to Chandigarh, you’ll sit in ancient monasteries, listen to morning chants at Tabo and feel the subtle shift that comes from having travelled slowly across such immense terrain. This retreat is less about doing and more about being with the mountains: watching the light change on rock faces, sharing meals and stories, and letting silence, altitude and the river’s song soften what no longer needs to be carried. If you’d like to understand more about the philosophy behind these journeys, you can visit our About page, or simply contact us for further details.
